How much do the workshops cost?

Our workshops are offered using a pay what you can model ($0 - $400 per couple) to ensure there are no financial barriers to couples or families. Individuals self-determine the amount that best matches their circumstances during the registration process.

We also accept insurance (see below).

Do you accept insurance?

Yes, we accept insurance. To find out if group therapeutic sessions are covered under your insurance, we recommend checking your individual plan or contacting your insurance to confirm.

Please let us know if you will be using your insurance. We will issue a receipt with your counsellor's name and credentials that you can submit to your insurance company

What does the workshop include?

Each workshop includes 12 hours of guided learning, skills-based exercises, all workshop materials, and a personalized and supportive environment for you and your partner. We also provide a Couples workbook and refreshments throughout the day, if participating in-person.

Will we have to share personal issues with the group?

No, this workshop is psycho-educational in nature, not group therapy. Alongside guided learnings, couples work privately on exercises together throughout the day in a supportive environment, and sharing with the larger group is never required.

Is this couples counselling?

No, the workshops are not counseling. Our workshops are psychoeducational, offering skills-based learning in a supportive environment. They are designed with guided learnings and time for you and your partner to connect, work on exercises privately together, and learn skills that you can immediately apply to your relationship. Our therapists recommend the workshops to many of their clients.

Are we required to take couples counselling?

No, there is no requirement for couples to be in or have previously taken couples counselling. Family Service PEI offers sliding scale counselling should a couple or individual be interested in those services.

Do we need a referral to register?

No, you can simply register for the program using the registration link through our website pages for Connected Couples and From Partners to Parents. If you need support, please contact ConnectedCouples@familyservice.pe.ca.

How should I prepare for the workshops?

No preparation is necessary. Just bring yourself, your partner, and anything else you need to feel comfortable.
