Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training

Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST) is a 2-day, evidence-based workshop that teaches participants how to prevent suicide by recognizing signs when someone may be at risk. how to intervene and develop a safety plan. The training includes hands-on practice through real conversations, role plays, and a guided learning.
Facilitated by Justin MacArthur (FSPEI Clinical Therapist) and Sarah MacEachern (Case Management Supervisor at the Charlottetown Outreach Centre).

 

Date: Thursday, May 28th & Friday, May 29th
Time: 8:30am – 4:30pm
Location: Downtown Charlottetown
Cost: $250, with some subsidies available.

Important Notes:
  • ASIST certifications now expire after three years. Under these new guidelines, if you completed ASIST on or before April 2023, it is now expired.
  • In order to receive certification, you are required to attend the two-day training in full.
  • ASIST is widely used by healthcare providers, participants don’t need any formal training to attend the workshop – anyone 18 or older can learn and use the ASIST model.
  • This workshop is not recommended for people who have had a recent suicide loss – if you’re unsure if you should register, please reach out.
